MR. WHITE "HISTORY"

My favorite teacher was Mr. White (History) Junior year.  His room was on the third floor maybe 331 ?? He would wait outside his room till everyone was there. He never smiled ,but there was something I liked about him. He was known as a hard and not so nice teacher, but I know he was nice. I know because The night before the big friday test my Grandma died, and my mom made me go to school on Friday. There was Mr. White waiting by his door and I just looked at him and tears started falling.  He asked what was wrong?  I told him my Grandma died. He told me that he was sorry to hear about my Grandma. He told me to go home, and that I could make up my test when I came back to school. He was a great teacher!!!

Ha ha! I remember Mr. White

Ha ha! I remember Mr. White well. He was funny, acerbic and bald. I remember he read his notes verbatim. Whatever his aide wrote, he read. Once he started laughing in the middle of his spiel because the aide wrote 'stiff' instead of 'corpse' or 'body'. I think it was something about how to bury a dignitary or something like that. I really learned and had no problem with the exam.

Oh yeah. He would never give any grade above 98% because "no one was perfect".  So we would get mad and grumble because he took 2 points off perfect papers.

"Open your notebooks" I

"Open your notebooks" I learned a lot from his dictation.  I actually tell my children about him now and then and how fair he was with the tests. You studied X # of questions but he only actually gave a few of those. You had to learn it all or mess up badly.

I remember him well.  Very

I remember him well.  Very early in the year I first had him for U.S. History, he asked a student where the state of Montana was located.  The student pointed at an area on the map that was not even close.  I laughed.  So Mr. White went after me for the answer.  I told him exactly where it was.  From then on my nickname in his class was Montana.  Very rarely did he call me by my real name.
