I attended Tuley High School before we went to the brand new high school named after the famous baseball player, Roberto Clemente. The class of 1975 was the very first class to graduate from that high school in that year. The school was clean, new and very beautiful. We had a new swimming pool which had a heater to keep the water warm; where everyone could use their own bathing suites and not the the ugly shirts the girls wore. I was married and having my very first child that year. I did not get to attend my prom because I was as big as a house but I did get to graduate even if I was already 19 years old. Those were the good old days and fun times too!!!

SORRY TO SAY THAT THE NEW
SORRY TO SAY THAT THE NEW BLDG HAD NOTHING ON THE OLD ONE! THAT OLD BLDG HAD ONE THING THAT THE NEW BLDG DIDNT AND THAT WAS WARMTH! I WAS THE CLASS OF 75 AS WELL AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT NO ONE WANTED TO LEAVE TULEY FOR CLEMENTE. TULEY CAN NEVER BE REPLACED1 YEAH ALL THAT GLAM AND GLITZ , TOO STERILE IF YOU ASK ME. AS A TRUE TULEYITE I CAN SPEAK FOR A GOOD NUMBER OF US THAT WILL TELL YOU THAT OUR HEARTS ARE STILL WITH THE OLD BLDG

I agree! The old building was the best!
You are right. The old
You are right. The old building on claremont had the most memories for me. The escalators in the buiding kept breaking down and it really did not have the warmth of the old building
Hello. My name is James
Hello. My name is James Fabris. I never attended Tuley, but I am very much interested in talking to people who did. I went to a high school in the Chicago suburbs from 1978 until 1982. I am currently working on a novel that deals with the transition from Tuley to Clemente.
I've done extensive research in the archives of the Chicago Tribune on the topic. But I feel like that is only giving me a small part of the story. I would love to be in contact with anyone who could tell me about what it was like to grow up in the Humboldt Park and West Town neighborhoods in the 1960's and 70's. Although I am writing fiction, it is very important to me provide the reader with an accurate protrayal of the schools and neighborhoods at that time.
I lived in West Town in the 1990's, and I worked as a substitute teacher at Roberto Clemente, Welles, Andersen and Pritzker and other school. So I am trying to understand what life was like before I got there.
If you would be interest in helping me, please reply here, or send me an email at jamfab1@hotmail.com.
Thanks,
James Fabris

Boy, you really have a great memory!! I remember every single person you mentioned! I actually forgot about Sgt Magraff! How could I have forgotten his name!?
I guess I didn't remember Mr. Fernandez name either. Probably because I took German!
Do you remember any of the cheerleaders? Sandi Dentler?
I played in one of the school bands. We used to play in the lunch room and in the auditorium as well. We lived across the street from Humbolt Park! Right across from the swimming pool (across Sacramento Blvd and Agusta).
I now live on Cozumel Island Mexico with my wife and son.
I still can't believe how time fly's!
Even though I will not be going to Chicago for a reunion I love to get these posts. Especially when they have all of these great names and places from the past!
Keep them Coming!
