OMGoodness...the boiler room!!! I remember that. Does anyone remember the long tunnel in the basement? How about Mrs. Anderson in the office? I also remember the boys throwing snowballs with rocks in them as the girls went back in after recess. Oh, by the way, my first broken bone was when I fell off the monkeybars. I attended Willard from 1961-1968. I had Ms. Ball for kindergarten. The room was in the basement. I also had Mrs. Stamps, Jarrett, Mathis, and Perkins. I really miss that school...it was an instituion. When I look at the pictures now, the school looked spooky. I now live in Atlanta, but each time I visit Chicago, I'll drive around where the school once stood. We lived at 657 East 50th Street.
I attended Willard from 1957 to 1964 and we called the mechancial equipment in the tunnel, "the whipping machine". When I attended Willard, Mrs. Anderson was the Assistant Principal and Mrs. Kelly was the Principal.

Those names are not
Those names are not familiar. Leon lived on 48th and Champlain. He had a couple of older brothers.
They used to tell us that there were "whipping machines" in the boiler room.
Was Mr. Lucas there when you attended? He was the assistant principal when I attended.
