Senn Band

My father attended Senn from 1927 until 1931 and I know they had one of the premier band programs in the country at the time - winning the National Band Contest in 1930, defeating Joliet Central.  The band director at that time was Albert Gish.  I believe he was director from about 1925 until 1931.  He then was at the Conn School of Music for a year or two, then taught at Austin High School for many years, after the death/murder of the band director there.  Capt. Ostergren took over the band program in 1931 and was at Senn for many years.  I do not know what year he left.
I am interested in anyone that can help me with the band history of
Senn. - Cameron

I was in the Senn Band from 1955- 1957. Subsequently, in 1968 I met composer William Russo and through him, jazz saxophonist Lee Konitz and jazz trumpeter Sy Tufts. All three were in the Senn Band together in the late40's.
When I joined the band Henry Salita was the director. He was there for many years.
