Favorite Teachers & Memories

Back in the 70's there were many teachers that I'm sure we'll never forget along with some memories

To name a few, I remember

- Mr. Crockett, Afro-American History, He was very powerful in his teachings

-Ms. Mills, Mrs. Fobs & Mr. Tirney of the Science Dept.

-Mr. Deer, Math

-Mr. Kahn Business Ed. ( sometimes we would cut his class, I know yall have cut a class at least once : )

-Mrs. Price, Teacher's Aide, she also had a sister that work in the office as well. They were known in the Chicago area for their powerful Gospel songs. Mrs. Price had a son named Louis that attended Marshall. He move to California after graduating and had a few parts in several movies , he also sang with the Temptations for a short time.

-Does anybody remember the hamburgers that were served in the cafeteria and we as students (some of us ) would ask for gravy or coleslaw to top them off? For some reason it made them taste better. Ever experience being in the lunch room, a fight broke out and we would scramble to get under the tables?

-Remember Barbara Bates, she was homecoming queen for 1972 or 73, she became very successful, ever heard of Barbara Bates Fashions, her clients consist of many celebrities.

-During the 1970's Mickey Johnson played Basketball and went on to play for the Chicago Bulls, I believe he's currently a cook county correctional officer .

Mr. Popspecial was

Mr. Popspecial was awesome.  During the 1960s' his forte was to encourage college matriculation by pointing out the benefits of higher education.  As the result of his efforts, my response was to obtain a graduate degree in education.  My thanks to a cheerful, beloved teacher.

I remember those hamburgers

I remember those hamburgers in the cafeteria......boy they were good. My favorite was the ground beef with gravy over the nashed potatoes. I remember Louis Price he was in a couple of my classes in 1969. He was a character. Talked to Barbara Bates about 6 months ago. She has a business downtown on Roosevelt and State. Mr. Crockett was my favorite teacher at Marshall. He was awesome.

John Marshall has had great

John Marshall has had great teachers that were pioneers and lifted the life of young people out of a poor and provished community. To name a few, Mr G Crockett was one of the greates teachers to bring the noise through our history. He dedicated his life to young people so that they can elevate their skills and take life to the next level. Mr. Crockett was a legend in his time and his spirit will live on in my life and others whom he has made an impact. "A Luta Continue to the great ancestor you are remembered." Then, Mr. Obannon a great musical genis. I will always remember your song. You also inspired me to be and do great things. Mr. Harry Hunt, I got your CD you are a genis, thank you for encouraging me to do the right things. Richard Masscoff and many more.
