Memories

I attended Dunbar (also known as The Bar) from 1995 until 1999. It actually seemed much longer because I was one of the Mayo Elementary School students that attended Dunbar's band camp every summer (under the direction of Mr. Moore) from 1992-1995. I was the Drum Major Sarena "Silky Smooth" McIntosh of the Mighty Marching Music Machine during my freshman & sophomore years under the direction of Mr. Carl Cogar and a few others. In the latter days of high school, I ventured out to participate in other extra curricular activities, including bowling & golf. Many people knew me as the morning news anchorwoman because I was the face of WDV-TV and a very active student in the Television Productions shop class.

Dunbar was and still is a great secondary school and offers its students many opportunities that other schools do not. I had a wonderful experience at Dunbar and I look forward to planning and attending my 10-year high school reunion next year. The class of 1999 was the last graduating class of the 20th century, but the first to bring home an Oscar! Congratulations to Jennifer Hudson on all her hard work and much deserved success! We didn't vote her "Most Talented" just for the fun of it! She's not the only superstar from the Class of '99, there are many more to soon be recognized!

I attended Dunbar from 1995 to 1999. I was a vocal music major my sophomore year and changed my major to Marketing after I heard my competition (Jennifer Hudson) :). I participated in extra curricular activities such as Golf (for a couple of years) and Choir (for a couple of weeks because I did not like to wear skirts). I miss some of my classmates and teachers!!!

A fine TX howdy from a transplanted alumnus of the Class of 1965!

Historically, Dunbar was the premier Chicago Public School. People from
countries around the world visited and toured the school almost daily
to experience its architectural and technological excellence. We were
beautiful...and we knew it!  Mighty Men, Mighty Men, yeah!

So, why are there no historic or current photos of DVHS (Our name means success!) on the school website?
