My fourth grade class - 1961

4th grade, 1961

I have Bateman memories that still make me laugh (or at least smile). Some of the boys in my class had an obsession with drawing army scenes and I recall the sounds the boys who sat behind me would make while deep in the acts of creation ( putttt.  crude flatulence like sound, BOOM, BOOM).  Almost everyone loved singing and we all got very excited when the teacher passed out our songbooks.  Among our favorites was Columbia the Gem of the Ocean- I still remember all the words and sing with gusto in the confiness of my car. BTW- I am the second seat third row. Would love to hear from anyone else in this picture.

We moved to Arizona in 1959.

We moved to Arizona in 1959. This was my class ! I recognize them all! I still have all my pictures from Kindergarten on but I am missing in this one! My worst but funniest moment was in kindergarten with Mrs. Gutterman. She was sitting on one of our little chairs and taking care of someone who had a problem. Unfortunately for her, I had a problem too, I tried to get her attention by putting my arms around her neck from behind. I was very sick to my stomach and wanted to go throw up. She was too busy to notice and I ended up throwing up down her back ! I felt so bad and so did she ! Terrible story but probably normal for a kindergarten teacher ! Never did that again fortunately!
