It was not until my sophomore year in Austin that I learned to love my African American Ancestry and to show greater appreciation for it today. The teacher that I had for that class was AWESOME. Her name escapes me right now but she was the best ever.
I do remember Mr. DeCalvin Hughes. He was my chemistry teacher and he was great at it. Its my understanding that he later became Principal of Austin. Way to Go. He always taught us that the sky was the limit.
The Austin High School Alumni Association has been in existence for 6 years. We have an office in the school and are the official Alumni Association for the Austin High School Campus. Mrs. Diondai Brown-Whitfield, President Please e-mail me: dbrown@ahscaa.org
