My favorite teachers were Mr. Thompson, my English teacher and Ms. Charlotte Rothchild my chorus teacher. Mr. Thompson taught me to love English Literature and Ms. Rothchild was the best music teacher anyone could have, she was fun and exciting. The last time I saw her was when the Chicago Teachers Union went on strike in the 70"s and she looked around and saw me. She exclaimed,"I must be getting old I am now walking the picket line with my former student. It made for a lot of laughs that day. I sang in the chorus and I still remember singing, "The Birth of the Blues". She took her best students to audition for the Chicago Symphony Chorus and she opened our minds to the classics. I still enjoy listening to classical music to this day.
