Englewood High School Drama Club 1965-68

engle-68f.JPG

One of my favorite memories of the years I attended Englewood (64-68) is of The Drama Club. The sponsor, Ms Carrie Davis shared so much history of theatre, especially Black people's contributions. From Ms Davis I learned that Othello was Black and that Paul Robeson was one of America's greatest. I made some life-long friends and participated in some classical productions, such as "Arsenic and Old Lace". My social knowledge base was greatly enhanced because of my experience at Englewood High School. I was honored to have served as President of The Drama Club from 1966 to 1968.

Ms. Jackson

What can I say about Ms. Jackson. Well She was one of the best History teachers Englewood has even had. She made sure that when you left Englewood for the day you had that U.S. History book that was red with the picture of the Amercian Eagle on it go figure..lol.. In addition to this ancient book she made sure that you came to her class hungry for history and knowing every single solitude of your rich hertiage. There were those who were oppsitional to her teaching, but she never compromise her learning style of anyone. Without Ms. Jackson teaching I dont know if I would have been so excited about learning United States History, and every "A" i recieved was well earned. So thank you Ms. Jackson where ever you are. Your teaching of history has really paid off...

Harold Zlatnik

My father, Harold Zlatnik taught music and band at Englewood High School from 1940 to 1960. He had many illustrious students including Lorraine Hansberry and Geraldine Page, plus countless people who went on to have careers in the music world. As a kid, I went to many EHS football games when the band was playing, and to school with my dad when there were days off for students but not for teachers. I would love to hear from his former students. Anyone remember "The LOOK" ?
