About Senn, Nicholas Senn High School

Senn, Nicholas (1844-1908)  Nicholas Senn was born in Switzerland and immigrated to the United States at an early age.  He earned a medical degree from the Chicago Medical School and worked as an intern at Cook County Hospital.  He was a respected teacher of clinical surgery, an accomplished writer on medical topics, and a specialist in the field of abdominal surgery.  In 1891, he founded the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States.

My favorite teacher

Miss Lee, Algebra I in spring 1958, Senn HS. I was a middling science and math student but it was only because I was ADD and just did not try very hard. Secretly I had always been facinated by science. I collected bugs, had a telescope, and used a microscope to see life in puddles. But math and science in elementry school just did nothing for me.

Class of 1957 Gives in a Big Way

Senn's Class of 1957 donated over $10,000 to Senn in the last year as part of their 50th Class Reunion. Principal Norman, plans to use the funds for classroom instruction improvements, including mounted LCD projectors and Smart Boards.
