About DuSable, Jean Baptiste DuSable High School

Now called the Dusable Leadership Academy. Following the 1961 addition, this building was also home to the DuSable Upper Grade Center.

Currently the DuSable Campus is also home to Daniel Hale Williams Prep School of Medicine and the Bronzeville Scholastic Institute.

Black Students Always Had Mentors

Donald Manning was a guidance counselor and history teacher at Dusable in the late sixties and really encourged Black students to read and study. He advocated for Higher Learing and the risk in starting familes with litle or no advanced education.
