The site was known as the Fairfield, North Shore, Pratt and Washtenaw site. The construction of an elementary school was recommended on August 25, 1926 to take the place of five portables and to furnish relief for Armstrong. The school was named for Daniel Boone on April 27, 1927. On August 8, 1928, the old Branch #1 of Armstrong at North Shore Avenue and Washtenaw Avenue was absorbed by the new Boone School.
