About Arai, Joan F. Arai Middle School

On August 25, 1976, the Hazel-Wilson School (a.k.a. the Hazel Street and Wilson Avenue Middle School) changed its name to the Joan F. Arai Middle School.  Arai opened on September 3, 1975.  In September of 2005 UPLIFT Community School opened on the Arai campus, phasing out Arai as UPLIFT replaced the school by the end of the 2005-2006 school year.

horrible memories

I went here in the early 1990's and this school sucked! The students only cared about sex and getting into fights. The teachers only cared getting paid. I hope this place has improved since then.
