Soy cheese burger! As long as you didn't think of it as hamburger, it wasn't that bad!
My least favorite lunch was pizza with chedder cheese rather than mozzarella. I lived in a largely Italian neighborhood for goodness sake! Chedder? No way!
The late and beloved Mrs. Dojutrek worked in the Steinmetz cafeteria for many years. Her son was and remains a dear friend to me. She gave me extra jello here and there. But the best thing about Mrs. Dojutrek, was her amazing smile. You are never gone if you are remembered in the hearts of others.
It was the sugar cookies that everyone was insane for, however. I have the recipie. Anyone who makes a donation to the Steinmetz instrumental music program, gets the recipie from me :-) They are as good as ever!
The best lunch at Lindblom ever was the grilled cheese sandwich with fries and one of those good old butter lunch room cookies. I almost forgot about going to Michael Kays for a sprite and cherry cola mix!!!
My favorite item was the butter cookies!! I helped in the hallway serving lunch at Brennemann and Pat would give me butter cookies. I ran into Pat when I started working at Arai, then later at Goudy. She was the best lunch lady. Butter Cookies!!!!!!
My least favorite was the saw dust hamburgers at Senn, don't miss them at all!
