Thanks for the Memories, Mr. Dulak

Many of you have fond memories of Mr. Dulak.  He still comes to Bell each Wednesday morning to teach art history to our seventh and eighth grade students.  You might remeber him as the young teacher who started teaching in the deaf department, or as the middle school teacher who directed many school plays, or as the eighth grade teacher in the Regional Gifted Program.  As much as we've tried, we can't convince Mr. Dulak to go online and communicate with his former students.  He says that he's not quite ready for the internet!

Bob Dulak and I taught

Bob Dulak and I taught together in the deaf department of Bell School when we were in our twenties. He was taking classes at Loyola University with me for his MA while I was taking the same courses in deaf education for my BA. When I returned to Bell (after 12 years and three children) he was teaching in the gifted department. No matter what department Bob taught in, he did an outstanding job. I consider him my friend and see him two times a year at the Bell Alumni luncheons.

Which years did you each teach?

Don't you have photos to share and to help us remember you?

Mr. Dulak was the best

Mr. Dulak was the best teacher I had in elementary school. He should have won a Golden Apple award but I don't know if it was around back then. I was in the gifted program back then and now even my children either attend or have graduated from gifted programs in the CPS system. At the recent anniversary of Bell School, I made it to the library and was able to look at some old Bell Banners. If any of you are doing research, that is a great place to start.Kulmeet.

Mr. Dulak was an inspiration

Mr. Dulak was an inspiration to me during my years at Bell (1957-1965)... His patience and superior teaching ability should be a testiment to all teachers at Bell and the CPS system...

He not only motivated his students to do their best but drove us to achieve an even greater understanding of life through his efforts and friendship...

His dedication to teaching as well as his dedication to growing young students to become valuable citizens and today parents of our own students should be honored at the highest level of education...

He will always be loved and admired for all of his contributions to our students and our society...

Mr. Dulak is one of the finest teachers that I have ever had the priviledge to know and learn from...

Thank you from the bottom of my heart... David J. Craglione '65

I had Mr. Dulak for 3 years

I had Mr. Dulak for 3 years in the gifted program, grades 6 - 8 ('78/'79 - '80/'81).  He was the best.  He will be a teacher that I will always remember.  I am glad to see he is still active at Bell.  Thanks for everything Mr. Dulak.

To this day, Mr. Dulak still

To this day, Mr. Dulak still inspires me. His gentle demeanor, easy going nature and strong silent prescence always gave me the impression that he never had to say a word to gain total control over his class. He is truly one of a kind, and all his kids in all his classes loved him. If there were ever a model or a mold for what a "teacher" is or should be, it would definitely be Robert Dulak. I wish he would get on the internet so his legions of fans could write to him, and give thanks for his devotion in shaping parts of our lives. In my mind, Robert Dulak will live forever! Thanks Mr. Dulak
