Andrew Jackson was born in the Carolinas on March 15, 1767. He took part in the Revolution at a young age. After the war, he returned home to study law and became a lawyer. He was the first man elected from Tennessee to the House of Representatives, and he served briefly in the Senate. When he won the battle at New Orleans during the War of 1812, Jackson became a national hero and a candidate for president. In 1828, Jackson defeated Adams for presidency and became the seventh president of the United States.
