Biography Information

Gurdon Hubbard (1802-1886): Hubbard was an early settler in Chicago who arrived through work for the American Fur Company. Hubbard built Chicago's first warehouse and served as one of the organizing directors of the city's first bank. He also was a director at the Chicago Hydraulic Company which would become the water works system and is known as the father of the meat-packing district because of his businesses packaging beef and hogs.
