Carter Henry Harrison (1825-1893) served as the Mayor of Chicago, Cook County Commissioner, and state congressman. He was assassinated at the World's Fair.

Opened in 1887, Carter Harrison High School was originally located at 247 West 23rd Place (photo #1 below). It was renamed Carter Harrison Practice School from 1907-1912 before moving to its current location. The second photo is Harrison circa 1955 and was taken by John Palatinus.
