Tuley, Murray F. (1827-1905) Murray F. Tuley was born in Louisville, Kentucky. Tuley studied law at the Louisville Law Institute, served in the Mexican War, and became Attorney General of New Mexico in 1849 and a member of the Territorial Legislature from 1853-1854. After returning to Chicago, he became Counsel to the Corporation of Chicago. As Counsel, served as one of the key organizers of reconstruction after the Great Chicago Fire. In 1878 he became Alderman of the First Ward and, in 1879, a justice on the Cook County Circuit Court. |
Help us find out about this school. Students were originally accommodated within Columbus School before moving into the new building for Northwest Division High School in 1892. The south section of this building (old Northwest Division High School) was destroyed by fire on February 6, 1938. A new addition opened on September 5, 1939. Tuley High School closed in 1974 in preparation to move to New Tuley High School, renamed Clemente High School. The building reopened as Tuley Middle School in 1975. |
