Roque de Duprey, Ana (1853-1933) Ana Roque de Duprey was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. She started a school in her home when she was only 13 and, after relocating to San Juan, became the first female member of the Public Library. Roque de Duprey studied for her bachelor's degree at the Provincial Institute in Arecibo while also working as a teacher. She wrote many books and founded or co-founded numerous organizations, including the Association of Women Suffragists, the Puerto Rican Feminist League, and the University of Puerto Rico. |
