Richard Teller Crane (1832 - 1912). Born in Paterson, NJ; came to Chicago in 1855. Erected brass foundry in on corner of Martin Ryerson's lumber yard. Organized firm of R.T. Crane and Brother and established iron foundry incorporated as Northwestern Manufacturing Company. Later took the name of Crane Brothers Manufacturing Company.
