Biography Information

Grover Cleveland (1837 - 1908): president of the United States. Cleveland was born in New Jersey and worked as a bank clerk in Buffalo, New York. He was admitted to the bar in 1859 and was Assistant District Attorney from 1863-1865. Cleveland was also the Sheriff of Erie County for three years before going into politics. He became Mayor of Buffalo in 1881 and Governor of New York in 1883. He was elected to the presidency the following year, in 1884. He resumed his law practice in 1889, but was elected to be president a second time in 1892.
