Simmye G. Edwards Anderson (1941-1989) was Chairman of Harper High School English department and an award winning educator. Born in Yazoo, MS, Anderson came to Chicago in 1963 and went on to win Teacher of the Year Awards from the University of Chicago and the Chicago Area Alliance of Black School Educators.
