Lyman Arnold Budlong (1829-1909): Gardener.  Budlong was born in Cranston, Rhode Island. He taught school for five years, then came to Cook County and began gardening. By 1860, he had become the world's greatest producer of garden truck. He was a member of the Board of Trustees for the village of Jefferson and served as a school director for 28 years.
