What's The Big Deal?

If you attended a Chicago Public School, you are one of 3 million living alumni. CPSalumni.org was created to build relationships among alumni of the Chicago Public Schools and their former schools and classmates. Take a video tour.

Robert Morris Class 1899

  • We are the only large urban public school district trying to connect in this way.
  • Every school that existed within CPS has its own unique Home Page and Alumni Forums.
  • Each school's home page has sections for Shared Stories, Alumni News, and an Honor Roll.
  • Plus, special opportunities to get involved with the school today.
  • We'll create a living history and archive of public education in Chicago - rich stories, famous people, etc.
  • We will link you to other CPS alumni websites and chatrooms that already exist.
  • Click here for our How To / Site Map page.

How Much Does It Cost?

There is never any charge to you - we are not Classmates.com or Facebook - and we won't share your information. Funding for the development and two-year operation of the site is provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation (www.sloan.org), and managed through the Department of External Partnerships of the Chicago Public Schools.

Tell Me Again, Why Are You Doing It?

  • To identify and register CPS alumni.
  • Collect and display historical information about the schools, students and staff.
  • Encourage and enable submission of stories and photos from registered users.
  • Share information about alumni groups and activities.
  • Provide an easy way for current staff to identify and engage alumni in support of the school.
  • Establish a new model for organizing a large body of alumni, primarily relying on the community building aspects of the internet and user generated content.
  • Provide a non-commercial way to connect with former classmates and schools.
  • Encourage loyalty towards and support for the Chicago Public Schools.
